Position Title: Field Service Engineer
Location: Austin, TX
Salary: $77K-$100K base + overtime
First Year Total Compensation: Average $125K
Second Year and Beyond: Average $200K+
Travel: Up to 80%

Position Description:
This is a hands-on, service-oriented role focusing on:
  • Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) startups, modifications, and emergency/warranty calls
  • Supporting field startups (standard & non-standard systems), warranty, remedial repairs, and preventive maintenance
  • Progressing into Field Service Engineer level with advanced training and experience

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform ATS preventative maintenance, startup, and basic troubleshooting
  • Verify communications links (e.g., Modbus, TCPIP) with Russelectric equipment
  • Write and submit Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for ATS-related work
  • Generate timely field reports to customers and internal teams
  • Accurately track time entry and expenses
  • Assist with installation of 480VAC/12.47KVAC switchgear, ATS, breakers, and generator system controls
  • Comply with all safety regulations and company policies
  • Provide excellent customer communication and manage expectations
  • Must be available on call 24/7

Basic Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of field service experience
  • Training in electrical theory/technologies (including prior military service)
  • Experience in power distribution, AC/DC voltage circuit theory, and troubleshooting
  • Diesel power generation and control systems experience (including paralleling systems)
  • Experience with switchgear testing and medium/low voltage electrical systems
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience in ATS industry
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience with automatic transfer switch testing
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards
  • Strong project management, organization, and client relationship skills
  • Self-directed and highly customer-focused
  • Valid driver's license in good standing
