We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our corporate engineering team supporting multiple manufacturing sites. This role will oversee the full lifecycle of equipment and automation projects-from design and vendor coordination through installation, commissioning, and startup.
The Project Engineer will serve as a hands-on technical lead for capital improvements, system upgrades, and process optimizations. This position will collaborate closely with site operations, maintenance, and controls teams to drive successful project execution and ensure alignment with plant needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead capital projects from concept through plant handoff, including budgeting, design reviews, vendor selection, and implementation.
- Oversee on-site work during equipment installation, electrical and mechanical contractor activities, and system integration.
- Support commissioning tasks such as I/O checkout, equipment testing, and final system validation.
- Collaborate with automation teams to integrate PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
- Specify and evaluate OEM equipment and hardware for process and packaging lines.
- Provide technical guidance to site engineers and maintenance staff.
- Ensure alignment with network architecture and automation standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
- At least 5 years of project management experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong understanding of capital equipment installation and commissioning.
- Hands-on experience with Allen Bradley (ControlLogix) PLCs and Rockwell software.
- Familiarity with Wonderware / Aveva Archestra platforms.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Project.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Experience managing large-scale capital or automation initiatives.
