The Markets and Securities Services (MSS) business encompasses HSBC’s sales and trading operations for institutional and corporate clients. Markets has three core businesses which include Foreign Exchange, Equities and Global Debt Markets. HSBC buys/sells both cash and derivative products with a focus in the US to deliver international products to our US-based clients, as well as delivering US products to our international client base.
The MSS Chief Operating officer (COO) business management team is responsible for supporting the MSS COO and Head of MSS in all aspects of the operating model. The team performs financial, operational, technological, and administrative tasks related to the Markets business, enabling trader and salespersons to concentrate more exclusively on revenue projection.
As our Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, Cross Asset Business Manager you will:
Impact on the Business • Help the business to execute on its strategic initiatives mainly focused on revenue growth, cost reduction, risk reduction and/or consolidation • Support various sales and trading desks by engaging in various project work streams, act as a coordinator across the Americas COO office for information gathering, expected to provide create input and prepare regular updates to US and Global Management • Work relationship with stakeholders across the Global Business and Global COO communities to achieve execution strategy and plans • Create a close working relationship with the Business heads and the management team in order to support and carry out delegated tasks independently • Identify, analyze, present succinctly issues impacting the business and implement solutions
Leadership & Teamwork • Take decisive, timely action to maximize performance and anticipate change • Deliver successfully for the business, combined with a personal commitment to the organization • Build, maintain and act on strong relationships with internal and external clients • Lead by example, setting the highest standards for others to follow • Communicate and ensure the promotion of business objectives and promote an environment for achieving objectives • Encourage constructive cross-country and cross-business teamwork by demonstrating collaboration and challenging actions and behaviors that are not consistent with the best interest of the business and HSBC’s customers
Operational Effectiveness & Control • Work closely with the MSS business and regional management to improve the profile/ efficiency/ profitability of the business • Prepare and coordinate recurring and ad-hoc Management Information required by the MSS COO Management office • Provide day to day support to business heads and their teams on Business Management operations • Co-ordinate the use of technology to increase operating efficiency • Ensure the business operates using accepted global and local standards, processes and principles
Strategy and Corporate Development • Work in conjunction with the Regional head in defining/ refining the strategy and to identify areas for future growth • Research and identify possible growth opportunities (domestic/ international); conduct due diligence through market analysis, feedback • Advise the Regional head as to integration of new opportunities within the existing business
For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $163,500.00 and $245,300.00
The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.
