DescriptionJob ResponsibilitiesProperly positions MRI equipment and adjusts settings according to procedure requirements.Demonstrates thorough knowledge of MRI protocols and cross-sectional anatomy.Transfers, positions, and instructs patients effectively to ensure safety and cooperation throughout the procedure.Produces consistently high-quality diagnostic images.Operates MRI equipment to obtain optimal views of the body while prioritizing patient comfort and safety.Prepares exam rooms in accordance with BRGMC Safety Guidelines and transports patients as needed.Assesses each patient's condition and tailors care to their age-specific needs.Applies advanced knowledge to perform procedures across modalities and in complex or unusual situations.Confirms clinical history, verifies proper procedures, and prepares patients with clear instructions to reduce anxiety and ensure accurate results.Selects and operates appropriate imaging equipment and accessories.Practices aseptic techniques and ensures adherence to all hospital safety and infection control protocols.Evaluates image quality, manipulates display settings, and maintains accurate electronic records.Reports equipment malfunctions and coordinates supply ordering.Ensures all pre-procedure lab work and informed consent forms meet established standards.Prepares, identifies, and/or administers contrast media or medications as prescribed, in accordance with state laws and hospital policies.Maintains professionalism and demonstrates courteous, compassionate interactions with patients, physicians, and staff.Provides effective and timely communication, supports team dynamics, and ensures quality care delivery.Accurately charges for all procedures and supplies used.Maintains current licensure, certifications, and completes all required hospital education.Ensures work area is inspection-ready at all times for regulatory compliance (e.g., Joint Commission, DEQ, CMS, ACR, FDA, MQSA).Answers phone and greet patients using AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You).Performs all other duties as assigned.Performance StandardsClearly explains procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation.Recognizes and appropriately responds to adverse reactions or emergencies.Communicates effectively with patients based on age and comprehension level.Provides supervision, instruction, or mentorship to radiologic technology students.Adheres to all MRI safety standards and proper scan criteria to ensure patient safety.Demonstrates understanding of MRI-specific contraindications.Maintains proactive communication with Radiologists regarding patient history and exam protocols.Collaborates with School of Radiologic Technology to ensure all student exams meet quality standards and follow institutional policy.Requirements***Commitment Bonus Available for an Experienced MRI Technologist***Experience RequirementsMinimum of 1-2 years of experience as an MRI Technologist preferred.Education RequirementsCompletion of an approved MRI training program and/or demonstrated MRI competency required.Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program or equivalent required.Bachelor's degree in a health-related field preferred.Licensure, Certifications, and Skills RequirementsCurrent registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).Valid Louisiana State License to practice as a Radiologic Technologist.
