Hybrid Flexibility | Software Startup | Among Coolest Midwest Tech Offices About RIVETRIVET is how construction labor gets to work. RIVET's software platform transforms the way contractors manage, plan, schedule and deploy crews in one unified platform. The RIVET team is passionate about leveraging technology to champion the skilled trades, accelerate digital transformation, and make construction an industry of choice for a new generation entering the workforce. The RoleAs a Lead QA Engineer at RIVET, you will take full ownership of our quality assurance efforts, shaping how bugs are identified, prevented, and resolved. You'll partner closely with Engineering, Product, and Customer Support to establish a repeatable and scalable QA process that ensures quality isn't an afterthought-it's a first-line defense. You'll create and maintain automated test scripts (primarily using Playwright), define what UAT means for our team, and ensure it happens effectively every sprint. You'll be hands-on from day one, implementing processes and performing QA yourself before we scale the team. Engineers currently QA each other's work-a method we know needs improvement-and you'll be the one to change that. Working alongside the VP of Engineering, you'll not only build the process, but help embed quality into how we build software from the start. Your work will have a measurable impact, and your metric for success will be clear: reduce bugs in both trunk and production. This is a high-impact, ground-floor opportunity to define what QA looks like at RIVET. Over time, the role will evolve into a leadership position as we grow, with the potential to build and manage an offshore QA team that runs the processes you've designed. We're looking for someone with the vision, experience, and adaptability to scale alongside us.What You'll DoDesign, implement, and own a scalable QA processCreate, execute, and maintain automated test scripts for React UIs using PlaywrightDefine and run a complete UAT cycle every releasePartner with Product and Engineering to write QA plans before development beginsPerform hands-on QA using manual, exploratory, and automated testing techniquesCoordinate with future nearshore or offshore QA testers, providing feedback and coaching on deliverablesTrack, document, and triage bugs-collaborating with Engineering to determine severity and prioritizationAct as a key liaison between Product, Customer Support, and Engineering-distinguishing bugs from features and proposing workarounds where appropriateAttend and contribute meaningfully to team meetings such as grooming, planning, and sprint syncsMaintain and evolve automated testing frameworks to support growing product needs and team capacityWhat You'll Bring5+ years of experience in QA roles, particularly in small or mid-sized tech companiesProven success owning or building QA processes from scratch, not just participating in themDeep experience with automated testing frameworks, especially PlaywrightStrong GitHub proficiency and familiarity with modern development workflowsExperience writing detailed QA plans and running comprehensive UAT cyclesFamiliarity with ticketing systemsComfort working with hybrid or distributed teams, including experience collaborating across time zonesAbility to communicate clearly with Product, CS, and Engineering-especially when triaging issuesDesire to work closely with the VP of Engineering and help shape the QA function from the ground upEven BetterBilingual in Spanish or another language commonly spoken by offshore QA teams (e.g., in Latin America, Eastern Europe, or Asia)Previous experience at an early-stage startupExperience in B2B SaaS environmentsFamiliarity with NotionPrevious experience coaching or managing QA testersExposure to testing both APIs and frontend interfaces across multiple platformsBenefits to Help You Bring Your Best Self to WorkCompetitive compensation and equity packagesHealth, dental, and vision insurance401(k) matchingEmployee stock option programCommuter (parking) benefitsVacation and paid holidaysFree weekly lunchesRIVET believes in putting our people first and building a diverse team is at the front of everything that we do.
