Job Description: - Carry out the medical plan of care under the direction of the RN Supervisor.- Oversee Nursing Assistants' care of residents in accordance with good nursing practice and applicable State and Federal regulations.- Accurately transcribe physician's orders and complete monthly summaries as scheduled.- Review care plans with Nursing Assistants and update them to reflect the current condition of residents.- Notify the RN Supervisor immediately of significant changes in residents' conditions.- Report and record changes in resident conditions to the RN Supervisor.- Communicate resident transfers with immediate family and department heads.- Assist physicians with rounds, examinations, and treatments as needed.- Collect laboratory specimens and arrange for delivery with accurate requisitions.- Supervise post-mortem procedures and assist with the collection of clothing and belongings.- Encourage resident participation in scheduled activities.- Report changes in resident conditions and care plans to the team.- Assist RN Supervisor with annual evaluations of Nursing Assistants.- Complete incident reports or assist team members in writing them.- Document weights and vital signs and follow up as necessary.- Clean and stock treatment trays daily.- Count narcotics with another nurse at the beginning and end of shifts.- Maintain an accurate inventory of resident belongings.- Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy work environment.- Supervise and direct resident care by Nursing Assistants.- Attend care plan conferences for residents on the assigned wing if requested.- Assist in the orientation of new nursing staff and adjust staffing assignments as needed.- Conduct team conferences as necessary and assure staff familiarity with policy changes.- Monitor nursing assistant performance for compliance with infection control practices.- Provide direct care for residents as needed.- Attend in-services, department and staff meetings, and committee meetings as required.- Assist Nursing Assistants on the hall as needed.
