Job Title: Technical Writer Location: Virtual
The
Technical Writer
will support a high-profile Department of Veterans Affairs program by developing and maintaining technical documentation for a pilot Salesforce Application within the VA. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical processes into user-friendly documentation.
Roles/Responsibilities
Develop, edit, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including user manuals, system guides, training materials, and policy documentation.
Collaborate with engineers, developers, and stakeholders to gather information and understand documentation requirements.
Review and update existing documentation to reflect product updates and industry standards.
Participate in design and review meetings to understand product changes and update documentation accordingly.
Communicate effectively at a senior level with strong written English skills.
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of related work experience in a similar role.
Experience in the Federal Government contracting industry or familiarity working with the VA is a plus.
Preferred experience with Salesforce Applications.
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple proposals.
Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Critical thinking and adaptability to changing priorities.
Proficiency in technical writing tools and software.
Experience with MS Office, Office 365, and SharePoint is a bonus but not required.
Soft Skills
Maintain composure under pressure and make quick decisions.
Communicate clearly and confidently, both in person and on conference calls, and provide candid feedback.
Prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain professional relationships at all levels.
