Job Description

The Detroit Chassis IT Manager is the liaison between the plant operating team and the third-party IT provider. The IT manager will be the in-house expert/trainer for the present QAD ERP system and take the lead on managing the decision process for updating and/or replacing the system. Additionally, this role will manage the overall IT and technology strategy for both Detroit Chassis in Detroit and Detroit Chassis Avon – working closely with offsite IT partner. The position will report to the Finance Director and will have one dotted line tech report located at Detroit Chassis Avon and a dotted line tech report from the third part IT provider in Detroit.

A successful candidate will need to interact directly with (hands-on) business owners and business users, third party software vendors, as well as the IT managed service vendors.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Essential Functions

Provide guidance/direction and effectively manage a third-party IT provider – both costs and performance Provide end-user support / monitor major plant processes & systems dependent on QAD, Matrix and InSequence Provide end user training for QAD, Matrix, and InSequence Work directly with internal customers to analyze, and document existing IT processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Work directly with internal customers to determine IT process improvements and system modifications Work directly with internal customers to identify and develop new IT processes and system modifications. Identify and gather IT requirements, using use cases, data modeling, process modeling, context diagrams, systems diagrams, etc. Develop Test Cases and Test Plans.

Experience

2+ years using QAD - Required 2+ years using Matrix and or InSequence for Manufacturing experience - Preferred 2+ years working with core manufacturing IT processes (Shop Floor Controls, Material and Resource Planning/Scheduling, Production Routing, Bill of Material Costing, and Warehouse Management) - Preferred 2+ years in IT system analysis and process improvement Strong people and problem-solving skills – effectively coordinating operational users and third-party IT provider to identify and close out IT related issues Experience writing functional requirements specification for software Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Excellent project management and organizational skills

EDUCATION

Associate’s degree required or applicable trade school / equivalent working experience Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science preferred
