This position is a senior-level desktop engineer position within the IT department, responsible for the design, maintenance, and management of the firm's desktop systems and remote access farm. Responsibilities include the design and maintenance of desktop management systems, the design and maintenance of our remote access farm, the design and maintenance of application distribution systems and methodologies, the specification and testing of workstation equipment, the development of workstation/laptop client processes and procedures, and the management of application upgrades and installations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Participate in the design, installation, and management of desktop management systems. Participate in the design, installation, and management of the firm's remote access systems. Package, test, and distribute new or upgraded applications and operating systems. Configure, test, and recommend new hardware platforms for workstations, laptops, and any necessary peripherals. Optimize performance of desktop and laptop computing experience for end users. Support and train department staff. Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend purchase, development, or enhancement of relevant hardware and software. Develop and document best practices, processes, and procedures related to all aspects of desktop support, software distribution, and desktop management. Work with other teams to support projects and initiatives. Assures knowledge transfer for new systems. Participate in the development and maintenance of the firm's disaster recovery plan. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience 7-10 years' experience in enterprise desktop as an application packager Must have a strong understanding of and deep experience in packaging applications Strong understanding of and experience with Citrix Presentation server / XenApp Technology.
