As the grid shifts from one-way to two-way power flow, utilities are facing a surge of complexity from rooftop solar and EVs to changing customer expectations and asset constraints. This role is with a growing software company helping utilities meet that challenge with data-driven insights and smarter decision-making tools. They’re backed by top-tier investors and scaling rapidly in the U.S. market. The team is small, collaborative, and focused on building tools that deliver real operational value to utilities. About the role This role blends hands-on data work with project coordination and internal collaboration. You’ll work closely with utility clients, product and data teams, and the customer success lead to ensure smooth implementation and measurable results. It’s a fit for someone who can dive into large datasets (mostly smart meter and grid data), surface insights that go beyond dashboards, and help turn a product into a solution. You’ll also need to be organized, adaptable, and able to coordinate across teams in a fast-moving environment. What you’ll do Analyze smart meter and utility data to identify trends, risks, and optimization opportunities Support post-sale implementation by coordinating with internal teams and utility clients Collaborate with engineers and product teams to troubleshoot deployment issues and shape feature development Extract insights from the data layer that aren’t always visible in the platform UI Help build internal processes and documentation as the implementation playbook evolves What they’re looking for Strong analytical skills and comfort working with real-world data in
Python and/or SQL 3–7 years of relevant experience — ideally in
analytics, consulting, energy, or enterprise software Demonstrated ability to
run projects, coordinate across teams, and communicate clearly with clients Self-sufficiency in ambiguous environments — you’re comfortable working without detailed instructions Utility or energy industry experience is a plus, but not required Experience working with time series or operational data is also a plus Must be based in or willing to relocate to
Austin or San Francisco This is not a back-office role. You’ll be in the weeds with the data, working side by side with clients, and playing a key role in shaping how the product gets deployed at scale.
