Overview/Objective
We are looking for a player-coach leadership professional who will be responsible for guiding a team of data integration engineers in the development, deployment, and maintenance of data pipelines using the Informatica Data Management Cloud (IDMC) platform. A successful candidate will have an established background in managing diverse technical teams, possess a strong technical ability, have excellent people and project management skills and have approachable leadership qualities.
This individual will manage a team providing direct supervision, coaching, and technical oversight while also contributing to integration solution delivery. The Assistant Manager ensures IDMC work is aligned with enterprise data architecture standards, supports operational reliability, and meets project requirements for data movement and transformation.
Success in this role requires a blend of strong technical acumen in data integration, people management skills, and delivery coordination experience. This leader will help drive consistency, mentor team members, and ensure high-quality development practices across environments.
Responsibilities
Manage a team of 3-5 data technical professionals. Train new staff, conduct performance reviews, and provide leadership and coaching, including
technical and personal development programs for team members.
Provide regular feedback, technical guidance, and mentorship to foster team skill growth and accountability. Demonstrate keen decision making by recommending resourcing on projects in support of achieving team objectives. Along with your manager, support team performance and conflict management as needed. Maintain accountability for the solutions you and your team are responsible for, ensuring consistency, scalability, and performance across all environments. Ensure development is leveraging reusable frameworks, templates, and reference architectures for batch, real-time, and near-real-time integrations. Ensure adherence to lifecycle strategies for integration jobs, including versioning, automation, testing, and environment promotion. Collaborate with Architecture, Security, Platform, and Governance teams to ensure integrations align with strategic, compliance, and operational requirements. Develop and support highly available, fault-tolerant integration pipelines using IDMC modules such as Mass Ingestion, Application Ingestion, Synchronization, API & App Integration, and Taskflows. Participate in internal forums, knowledge shares, or playbook creation to drive adoption of enterprise integration practices. Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt, consolidate pipeline logic, and eliminate duplication. Champion continuous improvement of the IDMC platform, including tooling enhancements, process automation, and documentation maturity. Support the integration architecture roadmap in alignment with the broader data platform strategy. Serve as the escalation point for complex or cross-domain IDMC issues. Provide technical leadership in backlog grooming, code reviews, and solution design reviews. Act as a trusted resource on the IDMC application, repositories, dependencies and scheduling mechanism within Andover’s solution architecture. Create and maintain source-to-target mappings, low-level technical specifications, integration documentation, and other relevant documentation as assigned. Use your expertise in IDMC to guide and support QA processes by contributing to test case design, data validation, and defect resolution. Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and the establishment of integration best practices on assigned work. Contribute to improvement of the data lifecycle management process to improve efficiency and reduce risk related to changes within our architecture, data models and IDMC components. Be accountable for ensuring adherence to deployment and change control processes, ensuring the outcome is high quality and low risk deployments across all environments. Collaborate with other members of the Data Services team to ensure integrated and reliable data solutions. Work proactively and independently to address project requirements and articulate appropriately issues and challenges to reduce project delivery risks. Keep current with the technologies used within the Data Services team.
Qualifications
Expertise in IDMC, including Mass Ingestion, Application Ingestion, Taskflows, and API-based integration. Advanced knowledge of cloud-based data integration architecture, particularly AWS-centric ecosystems. Proficiency in designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting ETL pipelines at scale. Strong ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions. Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills for resolving data flow, job failure, and system performance issues. Proven ability to lead and support high-performing teams, providing guidance with empathy and accountability. Proficiency with Amazon Redshift and PostgreSQL, including DDL/DML scripting and stored procedure development. Familiarity with DevOps practices for data, including Git, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployments. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for technical collaboration and stakeholder engagement. Strong time management and prioritization skills in fast-paced, multi-project environments.
Experience
10+ years of experience in data integration, ETL development, or related data engineering roles. 5+ years of hands-on experience with Informatica PowerCenter or Informatica Data Management Cloud (IDMC). 4+ years of people leadership experience, including managing engineers and guiding team performance. 2+ years of experience working with AWS cloud services, preferably Amazon Redshift 2+ years of experience with DevOps tooling and automation (e.g., Git, CI/CD, deployment pipelines). Practical experience with RESTful APIs, JMS messaging, or other integration patterns (SOA, EDA). Experience working in the property & casualty insurance industry or other regulated industries with compliance requirements (e.g., SOX, audit readiness).
