Williams & Connolly LLP is accepting applications for full-time Discovery Attorneys. While document review and quality control are core competencies of this position, Discovery Attorneys must also excel at project planning, tracking and reporting. In addition, Discovery Attorneys must develop an in-depth understanding of their assigned matters and use that expertise to assist with preparing for depositions, hearings, motions and trials. Discovery Attorneys are expected to create clear, concise written and oral presentations of their work. Supervision of teams of document reviewers (either onsite or remotely) is often required, including training management and feedback. As an integral part of case teams, Discovery Attorneys have significant responsibility for crucial issues in complex litigations.

This position has an introductory period during which a discovery attorney must be in the office regularly. After the first year, a discovery attorney may choose a hoteling option that permits remote work up to four days each week when that is consistent with the case demands.

Requirements

At a minimum, qualified candidates should have significant document review experience including the following tasks, examples of which must be specifically noted on your resume and detailed in your cover letter:

Privilege log drafting and creation; Second level quality control review of work done by others; and Advanced database search experience, which includes: Searching for and selecting documents for depositions; Assisting in developing a complex factual chronology; Developing an understanding of an event using targeted searches; and Constructing complex searches to efficiently identify significant documents.

Team leadership experience is a significant plus. Any such experience should be specifically noted both on your resume and in your cover letter and should include the size of the teams you supervised, the duration of the supervision and a general description of your philosophy of team leadership.

Foreign language skills, supported by existing ALTA scores and past review experience in the language, is a significant plus and should be specifically identified on both your resume and cover letter.

Strong Relativity and Excel skills are essential and experience with other review platforms is helpful. Successful candidates will demonstrate both the ability to work well in teams as well the ability to support associates and partners alone in a fast-paced and often demanding environment.

We Are Looking For People With a 'can Do' Attitude That Work Well Under Pressure And Deliver Work Product Of The Highest Quality At Every Opportunity. This Requires At Least

Strong legal reasoning and analytical skills; Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; Attention to detail and the ability to work carefully to produce consistent and accurate work product; The ability to work independently with minimal supervision; and The ability to manage deadlines and meet them consistently.

Candidates must hold a J.D. and must be a current, active member in good standing of the DC Bar. Please include your DC Bar number on your resume.

Work is performed in a professional office environment and requires the following:

Prolonged periods using a sit-to-stand desk and working on a computer. Repetitive movements, including typing on a keyboard and using a mouse. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation.

The anticipated annual salary for this position is $90,000.00. This is a non-exempt position with flexibility for overtime. The final offer amount is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, years of experience, education, and other relevant skills and qualifications.
