Late August 2025 About the Role We’re seeking a
Software Developer Analyst
to join a mission-driven technology team focused on building secure, scalable systems that support clean energy data infrastructure across North America. This hybrid role blends software development with technical analysis, helping design, implement, and support tools that power environmental data tracking across the U.S., Canada, and (soon) Mexico. The ideal candidate is curious, collaborative, and passionate about renewable energy—with a strong foundation in software engineering and an interest in solving complex business problems through clean, maintainable code. While technical skills matter, we place a high value on cultural alignment, initiative, and adaptability. What You’ll Do Design and build back-end systems using Ruby on Rails (or similar frameworks like Spring Boot, Laravel, Next.js) Maintain and query PostgreSQL or other relational databases with strong SQL proficiency Support and enhance CI/CD processes (GitHub Actions or similar tools) Improve test coverage and automation (e.g., using Cypress, RSpec) Collaborate with front-end developers using React (optional) Technical Analysis & Product Support (40%) Work directly with internal stakeholders to gather requirements and define technical solutions Translate business and regulatory needs into actionable development tasks Serve as a liaison between product and engineering teams in the new cross-functional structure Participate in cross-functional sprints and restructured delivery teams (including QA, Dev, and domain experts) Process & Collaboration Contribute to building a more reliable, test-driven, and knowledge-sharing culture Engage in process improvement to reduce knowledge silos and increase system resilience Leverage modern tools (AI-powered dev tools welcome) to improve speed and efficiency Ideal Experience 2–5 years in software development, data engineering, or technical analysis roles Experience with Rails is ideal, but other backend frameworks welcome Exposure to data pipelines, BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Databricks, Snowflake), or reporting systems Familiarity with CI/CD workflows and test-driven development Prior experience or interest in clean energy, sustainability, or environmental data is a
major plus Tech Environment Languages/Frameworks: Ruby on Rails, React, Spring Boot (open to others) Databases: PostgreSQL, Snowflake, SQL-based tools DevOps: GitHub Actions, AWS (app containers, RDS) Testing: Cypress, RSpec, automated testing Tools: Power BI, Databricks (optional), prompt engineering tools (e.g., ChatGPT/Cursor) Team Structure & Culture Cross-functional teams of ~5 (3 devs, 1 QA, 1 team lead) Flat, collaborative culture with high autonomy and ownership Currently restructuring to embed QA and business knowledge within each dev team Preference for candidates in or near Minneapolis, with hybrid in-office work encouraged (especially early on) Bonus Qualifications Passion for renewable energy, clean tech, or public interest technology Experience in regulated environments or complex data systems Experience wearing multiple hats (BA, developer, data analyst) Additional Info Travel:
