OSP Engineer
to work in the Seattle/Tacoma, WA area! This individual performs detailed outside plant facility engineering tasks, including estimating, analyzing, designing, planning, and budget tracking for copper and fiber cables, poles, direct buried and conduit systems. Responsibilities include preparing and interpreting engineering plans, drawings, and reports; designing loop loss for load and repeater electronics; planning and designing field-mounted switches serving areas; performing pole, conduit, and buried facility design measurements to support company and industry standards; conducting economic feasibility studies; developing and tracking project budgets; and performing periodic inspections and quality control. Additional duties involve collecting field data, preparing permit packages for submission, maintaining complex files and records, investigating information, processing departmental documents, and assisting engineers. The engineer must understand and design network elements providing Fiber to the Home, Copper DSL, Metro-E Ethernet, TDM, Sonet, and fiber solutions. Collaboration with multiple groups and designing for implementation across regions is essential. They should be able to write project plans, understand equipment installation and operation, circuit design, and system functionality. Regular interaction with local retail, wholesale, and municipal entities is expected. Qualifications
Ability to identify existing voice/data plant, electric, and other utilities on site plans and in the field. Knowledge of relocating facilities, obtaining right of ways, and easements. Experience managing other OSP Engineers and reviewing projects. Expertise in obtaining right of ways and easements. Capability to engineer routine and complex COE/OSP work orders, including road moves. Strong knowledge of COE/OSP principles, work order procedures, industry standards, PC applications, and CAD systems. Own tools such as measuring wheel, height stock, pull finder, laptop, etc. Experience with local networks. Ability to perform quality control on engineering work.
