Senior Technical Write r to support multiple projects within the Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) SP207 Branch for the Nuclear Weapons Surety program. This role involves writing, editing, designing (graphics and layout), and managing technical documentation for both internal and external projects. The Technical Editor will also provide documentation and information architecture support, participate in the development of standards and processes, and document them in DIRSSP-related systems. documents using the established MS Word style set. Create and revise
Ordnance Documents (ODs), Strategic Systems Programs Instructions (SSPINSTs), meeting minutes, memorandums, formal letters, and other documentation. Maintain
action item tracking spreadsheets, documentation comment spreadsheets, and the Program Documentation List in MS Excel. Coordinate and lead
monthly virtual Documentation Working Group meetings for the SP207 Branch, including producing minutes and action items. Revise
the Documentation Policy and Management Plan to reflect current processes and style sets. Serve
as the technical editing Subject Matter Expert for the SP207 and Sea Launch Cruise Missile (SLCM-N) Branches. Create
and maintain new MS Word style sets as needed. Develop
and maintain templates and template indices to ensure they are current and aligned. Provide
quality assurance support, including setting up and maintaining quality templates and performing quality reviews. Support
and contribute to internal communication tools. Perform
tasks within SSP systems such as DOORS, LiveLink, SWSNet, SIPRNET, etc., to set up and maintain program-specific and internal documentation. Provide
program status updates for external reporting. What you bring to the table... A bachelor’s degree in a related field. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance at the SECRET level, with potential for TOP SECRET. Expertise in MS Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat/Foxit PhantomPDF. Visual design expertise (e.g., presentations, graphics, and flow charts). A willingness to work in a team environment with minimal direction and the ability to work independently while prioritizing multiple tasks. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication and technical documentation skills. Knowledge of all aspects of technical publishing, including layout, design, and graphics. The ability to travel domestically up to 20%. A bachelor’s degree in English. A current SECRET DoD or active DOE security clearance, TOP SECRET SCI clearance eligible. 10+ years of technical editing experience. 3+ years of DoD/DON-related technical writing experience supporting various engineering tasks; familiarity with DoD/DON security policies and procedures.
