Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior IMS Database Administrator to join our team. In this role, you will create, maintain, and optimize our client databases, ensuring their integrity and performance. You will utilize specialized database management tools, develop recovery mechanisms, and implement security measures to protect our data.
Key Responsibilities
Perform upgrades and administration tasks for mainframe database software to support IMS environments.
Collaborate with vendor personnel to resolve database issues effectively and timely.
Handle daily maintenance tasks including securing backups, restoring data, monitoring database growth, and managing disaster recovery procedures.
Conduct database optimizations through reporting and performance analysis.
Focus on the development and customization of new services to enhance database functionality.
Participate in on-call duties as needed.
What We Are Looking For: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
Over 10 years of expertise in IMS administration and systems programming; familiarity with CA and IBM tools is a plus.
Deep understanding of database management best practices and maintenance documentation.
Experience configuring and managing IMS in a parallel sysplex environment.
Proven ability to establish policies and procedures for database management, security, and disaster recovery.
Strong troubleshooting skills to handle production database issues and support multiple clients effectively.
Comprehensive knowledge of IMS database organization methods, including VSAM and OSAM.
Hands-on experience with database utilities and reorganization tasks.
Ability to monitor database performance and resolve space management issues efficiently.
Experience with IMS performance analysis tools is a bonus.
