Join us as a Lead Database Engineer in RDS and Aurora MySQL Engineering at Amazon Web Services (AWS). We are looking for innovative database engineers who are passionate about solving real-world customer challenges and shaping the future of database technology.
Relational Database Service (RDS) is one of the fastest-growing AWS businesses, providing and managing relational databases as a service. In this role, you will:
Empower our Database Engineering team by partnering with development groups and offering deep subject matter expertise to feature design.
Act as the Voice of the Customer, helping engineers understand how customers utilize databases to build future-ready Aurora & RDS services.
Dive deep into ambiguous customer issues to identify root causes and develop solutions that enhance our database engine.

Key Responsibilities:
Analyze complex database issues and provide actionable insights for feature development.
Innovate and engineer solutions in database technology to meet customer needs.
Participate in mentorship and knowledge-sharing initiatives within the team.
Basic Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge and experience in designing and managing MySQL relational databases.
Systems engineering experience, including expertise in Linux performance, memory management, tuning, security, and troubleshooting.
Experience engaging directly with customers, addressing database and infrastructure-related issues.
Proficiency in multiple relational database systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, EBS, S3, etc.).
Experience in building and maintaining complex, mission-critical production database systems.
Knowledge of scripting languages (such as shell, Python, Perl).
