The State of Connecticut Judicial Branch is seeking a

Court Planner I for the External Affairs Division .

The successful candidate will report to the Deputy Director of External Affairs and will assist the Deputy Director in conducting the following duties:

monitoring, evaluating and assessing legislative issues that impact the Judicial Branch’s budgetary needs and operations

drafting legislation that will enhance the Branch’s operations

analyzing the impact of legislative proposals and recommending revisions or modifications that will enhance the Branch’s operations

effectively communicating with legislators about issues of concern to the Judicial Branch

drafting testimony and other written materials

representing the Branch at legislative meetings and hearings

resolving constituent matters brought to the Branch’s attention

assisting justices and judges during the reappointment process

disseminating legislative information and updates to judges, Executive Directors and staff

As the Court Planner is responsible for monitoring the activities of the General Assembly, under the direction of the Deputy Director, the successful applicant will be required to work many nights and weekends, when the House and/or Senate is in session and/or when a committee of interest is meeting.

Compensation time will be awarded, pursuant to the Judicial Branch’s policies. Additionally, the Court Planner will generally not be permitted to schedule vacation time, when the General Assembly is in session, which is typically early January through early June in odd-numbered years, and early February through early May in even-numbered years.

Salary Range: $82,782 - $108,516/year – plus State of Connecticut benefits.

New employees begin at the minimum.

The starting salary for existing state employees may be higher than the minimum, in accordance with existing Judicial Branch policy.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

General Experience: Five (5) years of experience in governmental or regional planning, research and policy analysis, methods and procedures analysis, organizational analysis, or a related field.

Substitutions Allowed: 1) College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen semester hours equaling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree. 2) A Master's degree in a related field may be substituted for the General Experience.
