In this exciting role, you will collaborate with the Amazon Security Incident Response Team (SIRT) to handle security events, analyze threats such as malware and intrusion attempts, and provide essential security services to protect highly sensitive information. SIRT Security Engineers are dedicated problem solvers who work hands-on with detection systems and vulnerability analysis tools to respond to potential threats against Amazon's systems. Your technical skills will be invaluable in tackling security challenges at scale, safeguarding the applications behind one of the world's most advanced e-commerce platforms. We appreciate a deep technical knowledge base, particularly in: Forensics Malware analysis Network security Application security Threat hunting Threat intelligence Key Responsibilities: Responding to security incidents, coordinating a unified response that involves multiple teams across Amazon. Offering security engineering solutions and support during customer-facing incidents, with a focus on preventing future incidents. Helping develop pragmatic solutions that balance business needs with acceptable risk levels. Identifying and recommending enhancements to Amazon's incident response capabilities. Collaborating with and mentoring Information Security engineers to elevate security and efficiently address risks. Evaluating current security trends, advisories, and research to inform necessary responses across impacted teams. Staying updated with the rapidly evolving threat landscape. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Security, with 1+ years of relevant professional experience or 3+ years of related experience. Experience with security monitoring, log analysis, and forensic tools. Proficient in one or more scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl, Bash, PowerShell). Ability to perform digital forensics and incident response at all stages, coordinating with teams and reporting to leadership. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Security with 3+ years of relevant professional experience, or 5+ years of related experience. Technical expertise in one or more specialties such as application security, infrastructure security, digital forensics, malware analysis, or threat hunting. Relevant industry certifications (e.g., from SANS, ISC2). Experience on a Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT). Familiarity with AWS services and security concepts.
