The Alexa Customer Journeys team is on the lookout for a skilled Language Engineer specializing in Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, or Large Language Models. If you are passionate about improving user experiences and possess strong analytical skills, we'd love to hear from you!
In this role, you'll play a pivotal part in innovative projects that shape the future of Alexa. Your primary responsibilities will include generating high-quality data, running experiments, and engineering prompts for API delivery. You will collaborate closely with engineers, scientists, and program managers to enhance the Alexa experience for millions of customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with scientists and software engineers to design APIs and assess the performance of LLMs.
Produce and manipulate various forms of language data while offering efficient solutions.
Lead data collection efforts by defining scope, providing guidelines, training teams, and evaluating data quality.
Engineer prompts to direct generative AI for desired outputs in contextual settings.
Automate operations and conduct data analysis using Python or other scripting languages.
Ensure compliance with annotation guidelines and oversee testing and deployment of Alexa's language understanding codebase.
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues affecting the Alexa customer experience.
Collaborate with other linguists, scientists, and designers to create optimal solutions for enhancing customer experience.
Own machine learning and deterministic models for specific feature domains and utilize modeling tools to bootstrap and test new functionalities.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience with Python or similar scripting languages.
Basic knowledge of Java.
Proficiency in database queries.
Background in Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, or Large Language Models.
Familiarity with version control and agile development.
Excellent communication, strong organizational skills, and high attention to detail.
Able to navigate a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in computational linguistics or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Creative problem-solving abilities with strong analytical skills.
