As a Data Engineer, your work will transform vast amounts of operational data into actionable insights at a petabyte scale. You will play a key role in designing systems that enhance inbound efficiency and improve supply chain sourcing operations.
Your Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and automate deployment of distributed systems for collecting and processing log events.
Manage petabyte-scale databases and design data schemas.
Operate internal data warehouses and SQL/NoSQL database systems.
Develop and maintain ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards to support business decisions.
Monitor and troubleshoot operational or data issues in the data pipelines.
Drive architectural plans and implementation for future data storage and analytics solutions.
Collaborate with business analysts, data scientists, and internal partners to identify opportunities and solve challenges.
Assist the team with troubleshooting and resolving defects.
About Our Team:
The Optimal Sourcing Systems (OSS) team is dedicated to optimizing procurement processes globally, impacting Amazon's operations and customer satisfaction. We leverage advanced analytics, machine learning, and big data technologies for cost optimization and improved delivery times.
Requirements:
1+ years of data engineering experience.
2+ years analyzing and interpreting data using Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL, etc.
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative/technical field (computer science, engineering, statistics).
Knowledge of distributed systems for data storage and computing.
Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
Proficient in at least one query language (SQL, PL/SQL, etc.) and one scripting language (Python, etc.).
Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Spark, etc.).
Familiarity with ETL tools (Informatica, SSIS, etc.).

The compensation for this position ranges from $91,200 to $185,000 annually, based on market location and relevant experience. Additional compensation may include equity, sign-on payments, and a comprehensive benefits package.
