Senior Software Development Engineer, EC2 Nitro

As a valued member of the Nitro Operating Systems team, you'll work closely with diverse technical teams to enhance our custom Linux distribution that powers AWS's Nitro system. Your expertise in kernel software development will be crucial as you drive the creation of new EC2 compute platforms. Key Responsibilities: Develop and optimize virtualization features for upcoming EC2 instance types. Debug complex system issues and collaborate with hardware engineers to refine driver code for Nitro hardware. Contribute to robust kernel performance tests and document modifications systematically. Engage with the Linux kernel community and strive for contributions to upstream projects. What We Are Looking For: A solid foundation in computer science fundamentals and systems programming. Expertise in C programming and version control systems such as Git. Experience with Linux package management, automated build processes, and software testing. A proven track record of kernel development, with documented contributions to the Linux kernel repository. Basic Qualifications: 5+ years of professional software development experience. 5+ years of programming in at least one programming language. Experience designing and architecting systems. 5+ years in device driver development, embedded systems, or operating systems. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with the entire software development life cycle, including coding standards and testing. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
