The incumbent will also serve as the Associate Clerkship Director for the clinical specialty course. This includes responsibility for the organization, function and quality of the medical student experience in the course. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Minimum Qualifications MD degree with current Board Certification or eligibility in OBGYN . Must possess/able to obtain a Texas Medical License, and qualified to hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Primary & Community Care. Demonstration of strong commitment to the education medical students and a comprehensive understanding and ability in educational and evaluation methods. Discipline Specific Required Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Three (3) years of prior experience in an academic setting with demonstration of strong leadership skills, outstanding clinical practice, and success in teaching medical students. Bilingual/Medical Spanish is preferred but not required. License or Certification Required? License or Certification Required? As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program ( ORP ) instead of TRS , subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
