Compensation:
Pay Range: $63,875 - $103,800/year. As part of the Health System Information Services (HSIS), a team of over 400 professionals, you will help ensure that UAB Medicine's IT systems and infrastructure run efficiently to provide exceptional patient care. UAB Medicine operates Alabama's largest single-site healthcare facility with over 1,200 beds and 200 clinics in Birmingham. Responsibilities: Oversee the purchase, installation, and support of network communications, including LAN/WAN systems. Analyze and troubleshoot diverse problems requiring sound evaluation and judgment. Evaluate current systems and assist in planning large-scale systems projects through vendor comparison and cost studies. Qualifications: We require an Associate's degree in Information Systems or a related field, along with four (4) years of related experience. Relevant work experience may substitute for the education requirement. Preferred Skills: Familiarity with hospital-grade infrastructure standards, including redundant core/distribution/edge architectures. Experience supporting clinical systems and electronic medical records (EMR), such as Epic or Cerner. Knowledge of HL7, DICOM, and other healthcare-specific protocols. Experience with network segmentation for clinical, administrative, and guest traffic. Understanding of medical device networking and associated security considerations. Ability to design and maintain highly available networks across multiple campuses or critical care facilities. Working knowledge of HIPAA technical safeguards and risk assessment procedures. Experience with network integration during facility expansions, mergers, or acquisitions. Familiarity with Operational Technology (OT) networks and secure integration of building systems (e.g., nurse call, telemetry, BMS). Strong coordination skills with cross-functional teams, including Biomed, Clinical Engineering, and Facilities. Incident response experience in a healthcare environment, including root cause analysis and RCA documentation. Experience with structured cabling design and oversight in healthcare settings. Exposure to Network Access Control (NAC) systems in compliance-driven environments. Experience with change management procedures in high-availability environments, including ITIL-based workflows. Comfortable working in live patient-care environments and adhering to infection control protocols during installations or site visits.
