As a Senior Software Development Engineer on the OEM Solid State Drives Team at Amazon Data Services, Inc., you'll take a lead role in driving innovation through software automation projects in our Solid-State Drive (SSD) group. This pivotal position involves collaborating with peers and cross-functional teams to build software services that streamline workflows throughout the entire life cycle of SSDs and storage platforms, ensuring robust performance and quality at AWS scale.
Your responsibilities will include:
Delivering top-quality SSDs that integrate seamlessly into customer products, fostering long-term partnerships.
Leading software automation projects aimed at enhancing the quality of SSD components for New Product Introductions (NPI) and for sustaining fleet servers.
Implementing software best practices, and authoring comprehensive requirement and design documents, while considering trade-offs.
Developing and testing diagnostic tools to ensure continuous monitoring of SSDs.
To succeed in this role, you must have experience in architecting software services that automate manual workflows, while designing tools and infrastructure that are future-proof and scalable. A proven ability to quickly learn and solve complex issues is essential.
About the Team:
The AWS Hardware Engineering Services (HWEngS) team is dedicated to creating innovative server designs crucial for the success of AWS and its extensive customer base. Our engineers tackle complex technological challenges and build high-quality components that are foundational to enterprise strategies.
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of professional software development experience.
5+ years of experience programming in at least one programming language.
5+ years leading design and architecture initiatives for systems.
Experience in mentoring or leading an engineering team.
Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
7+ years encompassing full software development life cycle experience.
Experience in an Agile environment, specifically using the Scrum methodology.
Strong understanding of OS internals, particularly storage subsystems in Linux.
A keen interest in learning about SSD and HDD technologies.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Compensation for this position ranges from $151,300 to $261,500 per year, depending on geographic location and experience. Additional compensation may include equity and a range of employee benefits.
