Our team focuses on bringing the power of AI through Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Copilot to our frontline customers. Frontline customers span across multiple industries such as Retail, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Travel, Finance, etc. and have numerous earned differences (e.g. are often mobile-first, often use more voice communication than text communication, etc.) from other kinds of users that makes this a field filled with challenges and opportunities!

We are looking for a

Principal Software Engineer

In this role, you will:

Work on a product that is directly used by the customer (one or more agents).

Contribute to the platform and infrastructure required to deliver those agents.

Collaborate and work across multiple disciplines.

Communicate priorities and tradeoffs to lay out a path for achieving our vision.

Lead by example, mentor others and help them grow by learning from you.

Continuously iterate and apply learnings to improve quality and execution of the product at scale.

Inspire and motivate individuals to work together towards common goals.

Responsibilities

Partners with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of scenarios.

Leads identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.

Leads by example and mentors others to produce extensible and maintainable code used across products.

Leverages subject-matter expertise of cross-product features with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., product managers) to drive multiple group's project plans, release plans, and work items.

Holds accountability as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), mentoring engineers across products/solutions, working on-call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.

Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale and shares knowledge with other engineers.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

OR equivalent expirence

Experience designing and architecting distributed systems & shipping highly scalable, available and reliable production software

Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and user experience.?

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

OR equivalent expirence

Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers.??

Experience for learning new technologies and staying up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in web development and AI.?

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing requirements and deadlines.

Ability to mentor and unblock engineers, providing architectural reviews, threat models, and best-practice guidance for distributed systems and conversational AI.

Demostrated ability to collaborate and contribute to a positive, inclusive work environment, fostering knowledge sharing and growth within the team

Experience engaging with customers during integration or deployment phases, with a focus on delivering value and incorporating feedback into product evolution.

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
