Description Join our dynamic team as a Lead Software Engineer, where you'll be at the forefront of technological innovation. In this senior role, you will leverage your extensive experience to provide expert technical leadership while fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment. You will be instrumental in enhancing security compliance and mentoring fellow engineers. As a vital member of our cross-functional team, you'll develop and maintain cutting-edge cargo inspection detection systems for the Ports and Borders group at Leidos. This position requires advanced technical know-how and a commitment to delivering exceptional, high-quality software solutions. Key Responsibilities: Technical Leadership and Collaboration:

Design, develop, test, and maintain services, simulators, and diagnostics using C# (WPF and Blazor). Guide architectural decisions, enhance team collaboration, and ensure adherence to best practices. Encourage the adoption of innovative tools, including AI-based software development technologies. Foster shared ownership and buy-in from the team regarding technical solutions and processes.

Software Development and Security Compliance:

Create software that meets industry security standards, advocating for enhanced security in coding practices. Utilize object-oriented design principles for a reusable and maintainable codebase. Implement Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration for high-quality, tested code. Collaborate with Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and Scientists to fulfill customer requirements.

Problem Solving and Innovation:

Elicit customer requirements, troubleshoot issues, and support Field Service Engineers in problem resolution. Champion innovation by researching and applying best practices for state-of-the-art solutions.

Communication and Reporting:

Communicate effectively within a small, cross-functional development team. Provide project status updates and inform management of any issues as necessary.

Required Skills: Extensive programming background with a minimum of 8 years in C# production product development and 12-15 years in overall programming. Strong grasp of object-oriented design (OOD) principles and practices. Demonstrated experience in software architecture and leadership positions. Expert in Agile methodologies, particularly TDD and Continuous Integration. Capability to create comprehensive design documentation and technical specifications. Strong problem-solving abilities and bug-fixing skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills in team environments. Desired Skills: Familiarity with AI-based software development tools. Experience delivering software that adheres to stringent security standards. Proficiency in identifying code smells and applying refactoring techniques. Expertise in UML and documented design methodologies. Experience with version control (e.g., Git), multi-threading, TCP/IP networking, Web Services, Blazor, containers (e.g., Docker), Visual Studio, C++, SQL Server, and interfacing with embedded systems. Knowledge of image processing techniques. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with 12-15 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 10-13 years of relevant experience.
