As a Software Engineer on the EC2 Substrate Operator Safety team, you will design and develop new software systems focused on enhancing security. Your role will involve: Tackling critical development and operations challenges within the global EC2 framework. Designing and managing robust systems incorporating cloud-scale best practices. Utilizing your expertise to ensure zero downtime and eliminate scalability bottlenecks across our services. Collaborating with a talented group of engineers in a dynamic, innovative environment that encourages forward-thinking, calculated risk-taking, and swift decision-making. Our team, Substrate Operator Safety, is committed to providing the foundational infrastructure for EC2 operators, enabling real-time alarm systems for non-compliant actions, and ensuring safe operator tooling. We aim to maintain EC2 as the most secure cloud computing platform available, giving our customers confidence in the security of their data and applications. Basic Qualifications: 3+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship). 2+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems (focus on design patterns, reliability, and scaling). Proficiency in at least one programming language. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in computer science or a related field. Background in machine learning, data mining, statistics, information retrieval, or natural language processing. 3+ years of comprehensive software development life cycle experience, including code standards, reviews, source control management, and operations. Our compensation packages are competitive and reflective of labor market demands across various U.S. locations. The annual base pay for this position ranges from $129,300 in our lowest geographic market to $223,600 in our highest market.
