Join Grainger as a Senior Machine Learning Scientist and lead the development of innovative generative AI solutions. In this role, you'll leverage Large Language Models (LLMs), Vision Language Models (VLMs), Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), and advanced techniques to transform how we create, classify, and optimize content on Grainger.com. Your expertise will enhance the merchandising of products, as well as strengthen marketing and sales efforts while working collaboratively with a talented team.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, build, monitor, and maintain advanced processes to fulfill Grainger's product media requirements.
Utilize a wide range of technologies, including Deep Learning, LLMs, VLMs, and prompt optimization.
Collaborate with ML scientists, engineers, and product managers to develop scalable AI/ML solutions.
Optimize AI/ML models for deployment at scale and maintain effective AI/ML pipelines.
Implement and deploy ML models based on customer use cases, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Engage in strategic planning for ML initiatives to deliver high-value outcomes.
Present concepts, designs, and project deliverables to stakeholders.
Mentor team members and foster a culture of growth and learning within the team.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 3 years of experience delivering ML solutions in a professional setting.
MS or PhD in Applied Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
Strong experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Hugging Face.
Proven track record in building and deploying production ML systems.
Familiarity with data platforms like AWS Sagemaker and Databricks.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical solutions.
Bonus Skills:
Experience with machine learning libraries like LangChain, LlamaIndex, Autogen, or Crew.ai.
Knowledge in deploying models in cloud environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
Background in automating data processes with Airflow and Bash Scripting.
Work location: Hybrid; preferred location is Chicago, IL, with options for remote candidates who are open to occasional travel for meetings and onboarding.
