About the Payroll & HR Specialist Position

Responsibilities
- Payroll Processing
- Manage and process multi-state payroll across multiple companies using Rippling
- Ensure accuracy in timesheets, wages, benefits, deductions, and garnishments.
- Handle payroll-related changes for new hires, terminations, bonuses, and corrections.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax and labor laws.
- HR Administration
- Benefits & 401(k) Management: Coordinate employee enrollment, liaise with benefits providers, and handle questions related to health plans, 401(k), and other offerings.
- Onboarding: Guide new hires through onboarding steps including documentation, systems access, and initial HR orientation.
- Maintain up-to-date employee records and manage changes in employment status.
- Rippling Platform Management
- Serve as the go-to expert for Rippling across payroll, benefits, and core HR functions.
- Continuously refine workflows, update employee data, and leverage automation features.
- Compliance & Reporting
- Stay current on employment and payroll regulations.Generate payroll and HR reports, support internal audits, and assist with year-end processing (W-2s, ACA reporting, etc.).
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in U.S. payroll, including multi-state processing and multi-entity support.
- Deep knowledge of Rippling (preferred) and NetSuite (a strong plus).
- Strong grasp of payroll compliance, benefits administration, and HR documentation.
- High attention to detail, discretion with confidential information, and the ability to meet deadlines without supervision.
- Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general comfort with HRIS and finance systems.

Compensation & Benefits
$50,000 - $65,000 USD
In accordance with applicable law, the above salary range provided is Verndale's reasonable estimate of the salary for this role. The actual amount may vary, based on non-discriminatory factors such as location, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. In addition to salary, Verndale also offers a competitive benefits package.
