About The Role
The AM&D (Autonomous Mobility & Delivery) team owns the autonomous future of Uber's Rides and Eats business. As we move towards a world where autonomous and human-driven vehicles coexist, Uber is building a hybrid marketplace that seamlessly integrates autonomous vehicles into the existing mobility and delivery ecosystem. This involves optimizing experiences for both human and AV drivers, ensuring the marketplace remains reliable, efficient, and scalable.
Our team impacts nearly every surface and core service Uber provides. Over the past year, we've partnered with leading Autonomous Vehicle OEMs, enabling successful integrations in both Mobility and Delivery. We are expecting significant growth and seek a Senior Software Engineer to help drive this journey forward.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop complex, scalable systems for autonomous vehicle marketplaces.
- Lead technical projects from start to finish, collaborating with product managers, data scientists, and operations teams.
- Develop algorithms for autonomous vehicle routing, matching, pricing, and incentives, influencing marketplace performance.
- Make informed technical trade-offs balancing speed, performance, and quality.
- Create new features and platform capabilities using autonomous vehicle data and insights.
- Mentor junior engineers to improve team output and technical quality.
- Ensure seamless integration of marketplace components within the autonomous vehicle ecosystem.
Qualifications
Basic
- BSc/BE in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
- 5+ years of Software Engineering experience.
- Proficiency in Java, Scala, Go, C++, Python, or similar.
- Self-motivated with a passion for learning.
- Experience in backend development and distributed systems.
Preferred
- MS or PhD in relevant fields.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Experience with autonomous vehicle systems or related technologies.
- Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and real-time optimization.
- Experience with optimization techniques and large-scale systems.
- Knowledge of marketplace dynamics, supply-demand matching, pricing, and incentives.
- Familiarity with simulation environments for autonomous systems.
Compensation and Benefits
For roles in San Francisco and Sunnyvale, CA: USD $198,000 - $220,000 annually. All US roles include eligibility for Uber's bonus program, potential equity awards, and other benefits. More details at Uber Careers Benefits .
