GENERAL SUMMARY
The Portfolio Manager ("PM") is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the existing commercial loan portfolio and working closely with the SRM who owns the relationship of these accounts. The PM is expected to maintain close contact with these clients, leveraging the relationship to identify and bring in additional new business opportunities, both in loans and other bank products and services. The PM should provide "best-in-class" service to these clients while following the bank's policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Work closely with SRMs and Team Managers on the assigned loan portfolio, monitoring and managing credit quality.
- Review to ensure each credit is properly risk-rated based on the bank's system.
- Maintain and grow existing client relationships, cross-sell bank products and services.
- Handle credit underwriting and origination of new credits from existing clients, portfolio monitoring, renewals, amendments, and reviews.
- Collaborate with underwriters, loan assistants, and support staff to prepare the Credit Commitment Report (CCR).
- Review client accounts and portfolios to identify and evaluate potential credit issues, aiming to maximize credit quality and minimize risk and potential loss.
- Ensure compliance with bank, regulatory, and credit requirements, providing excellent customer service within required timeframes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: U.S. college graduate, preferably in a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years in loan relationship management, credit underwriting, or both, with thorough knowledge of lending regulations and practices.
- Strong loan portfolio management and negotiation skills.
- Previous underwriting experience in commercial lending.
- Extensive knowledge of the bank's credit policies, risk management, and loan servicing.
- Knowledge of commercial and specialty banking products, with ability to cross-sell.
- Skills: PC proficiency, excellent communication skills, bilingual in English and Mandarin or Cantonese (a plus), organized, detail-oriented, able to multitask, and work effectively under deadlines.
OTHER DETAILS
AVP: $69K - $100K/year
VP: $95K - $132K/year
Pay is determined based on knowledge, skills, experience, and location. The position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
