American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown unit position with strong surgical and medical experience and the ability to manage complex patient cases.Job Details•Work in a combination surgical stepdown and adult medical-surgical unit,•Patient population includes post-surgical and trauma patients with diagnoses such as appendicitis, cholecystitis, trauma injuries, cancers, and more,•Care for both stepdown patients (40% of time, ratios 1:3/4) and medical-surgical floor patients (60% of time, ratio 1:6) as needed,•Unit manages a wide range of inpatient surgical procedures including wound debridement, hernia repair, amputations, and tumor removals,•Utilizes specialized equipment such as wound vacs, chest tubes, NG/Corpak, JP, Hemovac, and Penrose drains,•EMR: Epic system used for documentation; Pyxis for medication management,•12-hour night shifts (18:45-07:15), with options for 36 or 48 hours per week,•Required to work every other weekend,•Float to similar units or med/surg as needed, including potential to float to affiliate hospitals,•Contract length of 13 to 26 weeks accepted,•Required to participate in Storm Team or Hurricane Team coverage,Job Requirements•Active NC or Compact RN license required in hand by start date (pending license acceptable for consideration),•Minimum 2 years of recent surgical unit experience required,•BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required,•Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start,•Experience with PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown units required,•Skills in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, cardiac/vasoactive drips (no titration), non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions, and wound care,•Epic charting experience required,•Travel experience is preferred but not required,•Maximum of 7 days RTO, with no RTO allowed during the first week or on assigned holidays,Additional Information•Expected to work as part of a diverse team supporting both surgical/stepdown and med-surg patient populations,•Two days of hospital orientation and 24 hours of unit-based training provided,•Scrub attire requirement: all navy, or navy pants with a white top,•Must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays; RTO during orientation or holiday weeks not approved,•Traveler fatigue policy prohibits working more than 5 consecutive days or over 60 hours per week,•May be assigned to respond during catastrophic events, disasters, or mass casualty situations,•Travelers who were previously employed (perm or PRN) at this health system within the last 12 months are ineligible,•Current travel Per Diem clinicians at this health system cannot accept a travel contract unless exiting Per Diem role,•Travel pairs are allowed but must be on different units,•Local candidates are accepted, with rate adjustments based on permanent address under 50 miles,),•hash,:•2799105893175472752,
