The Project Director (Construction) oversees the overall construction operations.
1. Oversee the Construction Phase
Approve construction contracts and tender documentation for submission. Refine and align construction plans with the overall project objectives and timelines. Develop and implement policies and procedures to mitigate on-site risks in accordance with industry standards. Monitor construction progress to ensure timely delivery, cost control, and quality compliance as per contractual obligations. Coordinate across disciplines to manage action items and follow-ups from project meetings effectively. Foster a culture of high standards in quality assurance and quality control. Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory, legislative, and organizational requirements. Oversee the selection and management of subcontractors to support construction activities. 2. Lead Project Completion and Closure
Manage stakeholder expectations regarding the resolution of defects, variations, and outstanding issues. Coordinate validation and closure of punch lists with key stakeholders. Establish protocols for testing and commissioning of systems, equipment, and components. Review and approve project handover and closure documentation for submission to relevant authorities. Supervise the resolution of defects identified during the Defects Liability Period (DLP). 3. Champion Safety and Sustainability
Ensure adherence to Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) policies and statutory requirements. Define and enforce health and safety policies and procedures across the organization. Analyze incidents and trends to recommend preventative measures and drive safety improvements. Promote the adoption of sustainable practices and green building strategies across all project phases. 4. Manage People and Organizational Strategy
Lead recruitment, capability development, and retention of project talent in alignment with organizational goals. Drive team performance to meet or exceed defined project KPIs and deliverables. Manage project financials, including budget forecasting, expenditure tracking, and cost control. Define and pursue strategic business development objectives to support organizational growth. 5. Drive Innovation and Continuous Improvement
Stay informed of emerging trends and technologies within the built environment. Assess the potential impact, benefits, and risks of new technologies. Lead the integration of innovative solutions to improve time, cost, and quality outcomes. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. Review and validate risk management plans to ensure alignment with organizational risk frameworks. 6. Ensure Legal and Regulatory Compliance
Ensure all project activities adhere to relevant legislation, including: Building Control Act Electricity Act Fire Safety Act Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act Requirements Master’s / Bachelor's degree in building construction management, Civil and/or Structural Engineering, building discipline or equivalent. Preferable experience in successfully managing & completing a full-cycle project with a contract value of $1 billion will be added bonus. Preferable minimum 20 years of experience in managing large (>$100m), fast-track, diverse building projects with at least 10 years of project management working experience at a corporate level.
