CHIEF COMPLIANCE OFFICER

The Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity (GOEO) is seeking an experienced and highly analytical Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) with a strong background in law and accounting to lead and manage our agency’s compliance strategy. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Chief Compliance Officer will oversee and optimize the day-to-day functions and strategic mission of the Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity (GOEO). This includes developing, implementing, and overseeing agency-wide compliance, including managing risks and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.

Principal Duties Compliance Leadership- Develop, implement, and oversee compliance agency-wide.

Regulatory Oversight- Monitor changes in laws and statutes relevant to our agency and communicate implications.

Risk Management- Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develop and implement corrective action plans.

Policies & Procedures- Draft, review, and update internal policies to ensure alignment with relevant laws and statutes.

Audits- Coordinate and conduct compliance audits, as needed.

Cross-Functional Collaboration- Work closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure agency-wide adherence to compliance standards.

Reporting- Prepare and present regular reports on compliance status and risk assessments.

Ideal Candidate Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources

Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions

Juris Doctor (JD) and/or CPA designation preferred

10+ years of progressive experience in compliance, legal, accounting, or audit roles

Prior experience in a senior compliance or legal role, preferably in a regulated industry (e.g., healthcare, finance, tech, energy)

In-depth knowledge of federal and state regulations and governance best practices

Experience interfacing with regulators and managing audits/investigations

Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Integrity, discretion, and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
