MyPoint is seeking a full-time Financial Assistance Manager (Collections) for our Kearny Mesa corporate office.
The position will be responsible for the management and day-to-day operations of the Financial Assistance department and its efforts to mitigate loan delinquency and contribute toward achieving credit union goals, including protecting the credit union’s assets by working with members to resolve delinquent consumer loans and credit card accounts, and making decisions regarding actions to take on the accounts by preparing them for repossession or litigation, as appropriate. The position also requires working with and counseling members regarding potential loan modification terms, as necessary. Adherence to credit union policies and procedures is required, as is a working knowledge of all collection-related compliance requirements including the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act
Ideal candidates will have an Associate’s degree, or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school, or completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program, three (3) years of related managerial experience in collections, knowledge of all state and federal regulations governing collections practices as well as bankruptcy, repossession, and foreclosure laws, and excellent communications skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, members, and the general public. Prior credit union experience is helpful but not required. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
