Reporting directly to the president, the vice president is a member of the college’s senior management team and is responsible for providing vision and driving change in areas such as educational policy, instructional planning, program review, academic personnel actions, faculty development, and resource planning and allocation. The vice president also advances the college’s educational initiatives, including intercollegiate articulation, developmental education, and learning resources systems. The role requires leadership, inspiration, and strategic execution aligned with the college’s mission. The vice president participates in strategic planning, oversees special initiatives and partnerships, and sets measurable goals for all educational programs. Building strong, collegial relationships with students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, the governing board, legislature, and the executive branch is essential. Data-driven decision-making, perseverance, and a commitment to community college access and student success are critical. Duties and Responsibilities Commitment to the CCRI mission and students served. Supervise and mentor college Deans and academic officers, ensuring programs meet high standards, including accreditation requirements. Support faculty development, teaching excellence, governance, and service. Develop, implement, manage, and monitor the Academic Affairs Master Plan. Collaborate with the Vice President of Student Affairs and Chief Outcomes Officer to ensure a high-quality academic experience. Work with the Vice President of Administration and Finance to allocate resources supporting teaching, learning, facilities, and infrastructure. Coordinate across divisions to provide opportunities bridging non-credit to credit programs leading to credentials and employment. Advocate for the college with educational and community organizations. Perform additional duties as assigned by the President. Minimum Requirements Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution Five years of full-time teaching in higher education Senior-level academic, administrative, and leadership experience with diverse student populations Experience working collaboratively with faculty and staff, including collective bargaining Experience with accreditation, curriculum development, instructional technology, and program assessment Proven ability in budget and resource management linked to planning and assessment Experience using data to support academic initiatives Commitment to inclusivity, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills Excellent communication skills Competencies and Desired Qualifications Qualifications suitable for a tenured academic appointment are preferred Community college experience is highly desirable Position Details Position: Full-Time, Exempt, Pay Grade CPE 25 Benefits include health, wellness incentives, paid time off, parental leave, tuition waivers, and legal insurance.
