Reporting directly to the Criminal Division Chief, responsible for the training and supervision of all Victim Assistance Coordinators within the Williamson County Attorney’s Office. Ensures victims are afforded their rights under the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure and other applicable laws. Performs community outreach to provide public awareness. Works directly with a Criminal Division Director to ensure expeditious and efficient processes are developed, improved upon, and functioning for applicants seeking protective orders. Trains and oversees daily tasks of Victim Assistance Coordinators Communicates frequently with victims and their families to inform them of their rights, follow up on the status of their case, and answer questions regarding court settings, restitution issues, crime victim’s compensation, and other general questions Receives and ensures requests to make contact with victims are fulfilled, provides support services and referrals, determines follow-up procedures, and provides information about the justice system and court processes Mails and processes packets of information to victims and their families, including restitution forms, victim impact statements, etc. Meets with victims to discuss matters related to their case and addresses issues that haven’t been resolved Performs personnel management, including hiring, firing, termination, employee recognition, disciplinary action, and training Conducts performance evaluations and makes pay recommendations Assists prosecutors in preparing victims to testify by reviewing expectations and questions that might be asked during court proceedings and addressing any victim concerns Meets with Protective Order applicants and prepares appropriate paperwork for the application process; tracks cases and Protective Orders for statistical purposes Coordinates with the Protective Order attorney on the day of court Serves victims by accompanying them to court while their case is being heard Research information on Protective Order cases, criminal cases, and civil cases Assists in the development and maintenance of U Visa application processing Assists in the development of a Domestic Violence High Risk Team Provides direct outreach to victims deemed at high risk for lethality to develop adequate safety planning, supportive resources, and counseling Acts as a liaison between the County Attorney’s Office and law enforcement agencies’ crime victim services Processes returned mail from the victim Processes and provides the victim impact statement report on a quarterly basis to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice/Texas Crime Victim Clearinghouse Coordinates meetings regarding the annual Crime Victim’s Rights Week ceremony and participates on other victim related task forces, councils, and committees Attends monthly meetings with the Children’s Advocacy Center Evaluates and recommends process improvements Communicates department changes to policies, practices, and procedures to staff Assists with grant proposals, special projects/programs, and community presentations/trainings Attends all meetings and trainings, as required Performs special duties as assigned ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS Reports directly to – Criminal Division Chief Direct Reports – Yes PHYSICAL DEMANDS Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, visual examination of documents, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, standing and occasional lifting/carrying ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS Work is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned environment Regular travel between work sites as required IRREGULAR HOURS Work outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may be required May be deemed essential personnel in the event of an emergency Regular attendance is required The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this job. Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social or Behavioral Science, or directly related field and two (2) years of experience in victim services, social work, criminal justice or related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience One (1) year of demonstrated lead or supervisory experience Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Required within thirty (30) days of employment Valid driver’s license Required within six (6) months of employment Texas Crime Information Center (TCIC) certification Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification Texas Notary Public Commission Required within three (3) years of employment Texas District & County Attorney’s Association (TDCAA) Professional Assistance Coordinator certification PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Additional victim’s service or advocate training Bilingual: Spanish Working knowledge of Odyssey, Adobe, Jabber, SharePoint, and Digital Evidence Management System (DEMS)
