About this role WRITER is scaling rapidly, hiring team members across our three major hubs in San Francisco, New York, and London as well as in other select locations. The Director of global people operations will help us ensure that our people processes scale in tandem, bringing both process excellence and great employee experiences through strong design thinking and the application of AI and other technology. From onboarding to offboarding to immigration, benefits administration, HRIS management, and more, this leader will be critical to the People Team’s and WRITER’s success. This role is hybrid based in San Francisco or New York, with at least 3 days in the office per week, and will report directly to our Chief people officer. ???? Your responsibilities: Own and operate key People operations areas (onboarding and offboarding, immigration, benefits administration, HRIS administration, compliance, etc.)

Make our employees’ experience of People operations that is often painful at other companies a delightful one that they would recommend to others

Bring a continuous improvement mindset to regularly reinventing and enhancing our processes to meet the company’s evolving needs, leveraging AI thoughtfully and effectively

Manage a high-performing team of four People ops generalists across multiple locations

Measure the resourcing vs impact/outcomes of our People operations and ensure that we are getting the most out of our investments and deploying

Partner with our Legal team to ensure we’re always fully compliant with local, state, federal laws and other requirements

Partner with other leaders on the People team to ensure People operations is well integrated and supporting other pillars of WRITER’s People strategy

Is this you? 15+ years of professional experience in People operations

Track record of effectively redesigning processes with the use of AI and technology

Experience leading People operations in geographies outside the US, ideally UK and EMEA

Great leader who has managed teammates across multiple locations and time zones

Helped companies scale rapidly from a few hundred to many hundreds or 1000+ employees

Approach every problem both with prior expertise and ‘first principles’ thinking

Outcome-orientation; define what great looks like and work backward on how to get there
