Senior Underwriter, Private Equity (Finance)
JOB DESCRIPTION
The P&C Underwriter is responsible for new and renewal business within their own book of business. The role involves driving profitable growth with Chicago and Midwest producers for our Private Equity Specialty (PES) customer group, which has an M&A specialization. This includes working with large national brokers, key Cornerstone relationships, and local/regional agents. Lines of business encompass Package, Automobile, Umbrella, International, E&O, and Workers' Compensation.
Underwriting duties include developing and negotiating price, coverage, terms, and conditions for all new and renewal business, while actively seeking account rounding opportunities for other Chubb Commercial Insurance practices. Collaboration with underwriters, operations, claims, marketing, and home office management is essential. The candidate must implement and manage effective pricing and rate strategies to ensure profitability, book growth, and strong producer relations. We seek a highly motivated, results-oriented individual with solid business and underwriting acumen.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Soliciting new and renewal submissions from agents and brokers; responsible for new business production goals and managing a renewal book of business.
Executing regional marketing and sales strategies, including prospecting, cross-selling, and upselling initiatives.
Determining terms, conditions, and pricing using complex rating plans and underwriting guidelines within authority levels.
Partnering with managers and IP leaders to budget for pending Private Equity transactions, including corporate M&A, add-ons, and carve-outs, providing estimated terms, conditions, and pricing during confidential Due Diligence periods.
Collaborating with managers, underwriting associates, and regional colleagues.
Documenting underwriting files thoroughly and accurately.
Managing accounts and a portfolio of business within underwriting authority.
Adhering to underwriting standards and guidelines, including all applicable policies, authorities, and position papers.
Following procedures for policy issuance, premium booking, billing, manuscript forms, endorsements, and file documentation.
Engaging in regular broker travel and relationship management, including monthly/quarterly visits within the Midwest & Texas regions.
