Director of Earned Media & Brand Social

to lead and evolve external communications, brand storytelling, and social engagement strategy. This role requires a forward-thinking leader with a passion for earned-first media, social innovation, and influencer engagement to drive buzz, cultural relevance, and brand affinity. The ideal candidate is equal parts strategic, creative, and collaborative—able to balance rapid cultural response with structured product marketing and business alignment. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Planning Develop and lead the comprehensive communications strategy across earned media, PR, social media, and influencer/creator marketing. Drive both immediate and long-term brand impact through innovative storytelling and culture-led engagement. Build and manage the overarching communications calendar, integrating product launches, PR activations, brand milestones, and culturally relevant moments. Ensure all communications efforts align with broader marketing, brand, and business objectives. Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams including Integrated Marketing, Creative, Media, Digital, and Corporate Communications. Mentor and develop a high-performing team, cultivating a creative, accountable, and insight-driven culture. Earned Media Storytelling & Engagement Own and execute earned media strategies that elevate brand perception, drive relevance, and generate organic media coverage. Craft integrated PR campaigns that connect emotionally with consumers and capture the attention of top-tier media. Serve as a brand guardian in how the story is told across earned platforms. Brand Social & Influencer Strategy Lead the social media ecosystem with an earned-first mindset—ensuring content, tone, and engagement align with platform best practices and cultural trends. Stay ahead of cultural conversations, inserting the brand into relevant moments in real time. Innovate across content development, community engagement, and influencer partnerships to spark conversation and brand love. Analyze social performance and adapt strategy using data, insights, and trends. Agency & Partner Management Direct key agency relationships across PR, media relations, social media, influencer marketing, and crisis communications. Maximize performance and integration of agency teams through clear objectives, collaboration, and accountability. Corporate & Crisis Communications Lead proactive executive communications strategy to build thought leadership and corporate visibility. Serve as a key partner during crisis communications, ensuring messaging is strategic, timely, and aligned with brand values. Qualifications 12+ years of progressive experience in PR, social media, influencer marketing, or communications (agency and/or in-house). Deep expertise in earned media strategy, storytelling, and reputation management. Cultural fluency with a pulse on media, creators, and trends that drive brand relevance. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage agency partners. Strong communication skills and the ability to craft clear, compelling narratives. Experience navigating complex brand environments and high-visibility communications. A creative leader with the ability to act quickly, think boldly, and bring big ideas to life.
