What You’ll Do As the Director of Sales – West Region, you will be the strategic architect and hands-on leader driving growth across grocery, dollar, and alternative retail channels. You’ll be responsible for leading all aspects of regional sales, fostering key relationships, and aligning cross-functional teams to execute flawlessly in a competitive market. Your role will be both visionary and operational, ensuring the sales function is scalable, data-driven, and customer-centric.
Sales Strategy & Execution Design, implement, and continuously evolve a comprehensive sales strategy that aligns with company goals and regional market dynamics. Establish and communicate clear long-term and short-term objectives, prioritizing high-impact initiatives that maximize growth and margin. Monitor industry and regional trends, competitor movements, and shopper behaviors to inform strategic pivots and channel tactics. Collaborate with marketing to ensure brand messaging, promotional activity, and regional campaigns directly support sales goals. Revenue Growth & Opportunity Development Identify high-potential new business opportunities within existing and untapped customer segments. Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified leads and strategic accounts with a strong conversion focus. Oversee negotiations and pricing strategies to ensure competitive positioning without compromising profitability. Evaluate portfolio performance by channel and product to optimize mix and drive incremental growth. Team Leadership & Development Set clear sales targets, provide guidance and support, and foster a high-performance culture. Provide coaching and development opportunities to enhance the skills and capabilities of the team. Drive a culture of accountability, ownership, and excellence through ongoing performance management and development. Promote diversity, collaboration, and inclusion within the team and across departments. Key Account & Customer Management Cultivate and grow relationships with major retail buyers, procurement teams, and distributor partners. Serve as the executive point of contact for top-tier accounts, ensuring a deep understanding of partner needs and challenges. Champion a customer-first mentality, delivering tailored solutions that increase satisfaction and long-term loyalty. Resolve escalations with speed, transparency, and a commitment to win-win outcomes. Forecasting, Analytics & Budgeting Own the sales forecast for the West Region—balancing data analytics, field insights, and macro market conditions. Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure alignment between forecasted demand and production planning. Monitor P&L performance, regional budgets, and resource allocation to ensure sales investments are efficient and ROI-driven. Deliver detailed monthly and quarterly performance reports, including KPIs, wins, risks, and growth initiatives. Sales Process Innovation & Tools Lead continuous improvement initiatives in sales operations, reporting, and CRM optimization. Identify and implement new tools and technologies that enable the sales team to be more productive and insights-driven. Standardize best-in-class sales methodologies that improve close rates and reduce cycle times. Establish clear governance for pipeline health, lead quality, and opportunity progression. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Marketing, Product Innovation, Customer Service, and Supply Chain to create a seamless customer experience. Contribute sales insights to product development cycles and innovation pipelines. Align with marketing on go-to-market campaigns, trade promotions, and channel-specific messaging. Act as the voice of the customer in internal strategy discussions and planning sessions.
