Your Impact As an Editor-Multimedia Producer, you’ll join a group of publishing professionals within the Global Publishing team, which is part of the firm’s Reach and Engagement function. Our publishing team focuses on supporting authors to develop powerful editorial products that will make an impact on our many audiences.
You’ll work with highly skilled McKinsey colleagues from around the world to develop and publish distinctive content across digital and print platforms. As an editor, you will become fluent in McKinsey’s production-related processes and resources, with strong editing, fact-checking, and content management support to build publishing efforts.
You will be a member of the Audience Development & Innovation team. You will work with editors and subject matter experts (including senior McKinsey partners and corporate executives) to create engaging, informative podcasts and videos for external publication, and other projects as needed.
You’ll act as a thought-partner and service provider (e.g., line editor, producer), working with McKinsey authors (i.e., typically senior consultants and industry/functional experts) to identify topics of interest to a global business audience, play an active role in pitch meetings, conduct research, develop persuasive storylines, prepare partner interviewees and hosts with talking points, and run recording sessions. You will review and edit content that rigorously follows conventions of written English and ensure consistency of voice/tone/style and alignment with firm style and risk/reputation guidelines, working with stakeholders to discuss and develop changes.
You will work on editorial publications and programs, coordinating with relevant McKinsey publishing groups and stakeholders, to ensure projects are completed, approved, and published to deadline. You will lead projects/workstreams independently or with designated teams, aligning with key stakeholders as relevant, advancing relevant goals for publishing. You will stay up-to-date on business news and trends, as well as the firm’s research, to ensure communications are in touch with current public discussion/research and aligned with the firm’s position. You may be asked to engage in additional ad hoc email and other editorial projects
Your qualifications and skills Bachelor’s/University degree; advanced degree in journalism/media a plus 5-8 years of experience in all steps of creating multimedia—primarily audio and video—products (ideation, editorial, running audio/video recording sessions, audio/video editing, mixing, etc.), preferably for an English-language business publication or professional-services firm Extensive experience audio editing on Pro Tools and video editing across the Adobe suite, with up-to-date knowledge across multimedia creation platforms Ability to develop questions/talking points for hosts Adept at writing compelling copy and headlines for podcast and video transcripts A deep understanding of global business trends and detailed knowledge of two or more industries Data literacy and familiarity with audience engagement (e.g., SEO, social media) Strong mastery of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint) and team share tools (e.g., Box, Slack, Zoom) Excellent editorial skills (e.g., writing, editing), judgement, and business literacy, with ability to rapidly absorb complex ideas and distill them into accessible copy for global audiences Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation) Proficiency and fluency in verbal and written English is required, other language skills are a plus
