Chief External Relations Officer ORGANIZATION SUMMARY Housing Forward, formally known as Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance (MDHA) is a backbone organization that leads the development of an effective homeless rehousing system. In partnership with the All Neighbors Coalition of 150+ public, private, and nonprofit institutions, we make the experience of homelessness in Dallas and Collin Counties rare, brief, and non-recurring. POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Chief External Relations Officer, the Marketing and Communications Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing communications and marketing strategies to advance agency and communitywide goals for solving homelessness. The role will lead content and message development, brand management, marketing design, and outreach to provide a leading voice on ending homelessness and strengthen support for the All Neighbors Coalition’s mission-driven strategies. The person in this position will work cross-functionally with the Development, Programs, and Leadership teams to tell the story of Housing Forward and the All Neighbors Coalition. This includes creating engaging and impactful content across platforms and building the organization’s digital and social media presence. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Marketing and Communications Develop and implement targeted and transformational communication strategies to advance agency- and communitywide goals
Drive creation and execution of written materials - email newsletters, marketing materials, and thought leadership content
Develop and execute strategies to manage and strengthen Housing Forward and the All Neighbors Coalition’s brand, through a cohesive content strategy, brand monitoring, and strategic positioning across all communications channels
Develop strategic communications including targeted key messaging, media pitches, and press releases
Manage Housing Forward’s website to ensure content is accurate, accessible, and compelling
Lead campaigns that grow digital engagement, expand mailing lists, and increase media coverage
Drive participation in networking opportunities to increase the profile of Housing Forward
Curate, maintain, and activate a historical archive of Housing Forward press appearances and milestones
Social Media Develop and maintain a content calendar for all social platforms.
Create compelling and mission-aligned social content that builds engagement and increases reach.
Monitor analytics to refine strategies and report outcomes.
Expand Housing Forward’s media reach through partnerships with multilingual and or non-traditional outlets (e.g., Spanish, podcasts, social media-based news).
Serve as an initial creator and collaborative partner on messaging that supports comprehensive storytelling across the organization.
Project Management Manage timelines, deliverables, and vendor relationships for communication projects and campaigns.
Produce monthly media performance reports with actionable insights for internal stakeholders.
Partner with the Chief External Relations Officer and others to plan and execute key organizational initiatives and events.
Lead compelling and influential content strategies that grow advance the brand and mission of the All Neighbors Coalition and Housing Forward. This includes telling stories of neighbors who have transitioned from homelessness and the ecosystem serving them.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: The successful candidate will bring: WRITING: Strong writing, editing, and attention to detail
STORYTELLING: Ability to create captivating and influential content/messaging through storytelling
STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS: Ability to advance communications objectives by defining target audiences, crafting and tailoring key messaging for each audience, and identifying appropriate channels of communication to reach those audiences
MARKETING AND DESIGN: Proficiency with marketing and brand management; experience with marketing and design tools (e.g., Canva, Photoshop, WordPress, Hootsuite)
DIGITAL MEDIA: Experience developing and implementing digital media campaigns; expertise in email marketing and social media analytics
PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Ability to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and evaluate projects to achieve specific goals within defined timelines. Content calendar planning skills
Experience with short-form video production and podcast development preferred
A collaborative, proactive, and adaptable mindset
Bilingual or multilingual ability is a plus REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field, OR a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
Demonstrated experience managing multi-channel communications strategies and projects
Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and car insurance (minimal travel required)
Must be able to lift objects up to 25 lbs.
WORK SCHEDULE: Housing Forward’s standard business hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Occasional evenings or weekends may be required to attend community events or partner meetings. Employees are currently expected to work in the office at least 3 days per week. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Salary range: $73,000 to $90,000 (depending on title and experience)
