KVEO and ValleyCentral.com areseeking a Digital Executive Producer to lead the team on all digital platforms. This supervisor will report to the Digital Content Manager and News Director and will supervise a team of digital content producers.
Digital Executive Producer will be responsible for overseeing and training digital producers. Oversee and improve the daily packaging of all digital editorial content published and distributed across the site, media platforms, and social media pages to increase user traffic and engagement. An audience expert who understands how to grow distribution platforms to maximize readership. Flexibility to perform various duties and work across multiple platforms. Ability to jump into the mix and create high-performing content asneeded.
The Digital EP will be involved in the editorial process in the newsroom. Digital EP will attend local and regional meetings as needed, and work with the Digital Content Manager and News Director on refining the local audience strategy. Digital EP will be responsible for meeting local KPI goals and ensuring traffic is regularly growing. The Digital EP needs to be familiar with all aspects of digital duties and be able to jump in as needed.
Position Responsibilities:
Attends local editorial meetings and serves as a bridge between broadcast and digital in the newsroom
Trains and coaches, a team of local digitaljournalists
Excellent at writing engaging headlines that increase page views and packaging content that grows page views per visitor, video-on-demand metrics, and time on site
Leads team members responsible for planning and implementing special coverage projects (severe weather, breaking news, elections, enterprise original digital content)
Works with digital producers to ensure a steady stream of interesting content is packaged in an interactive way and promoted in a way that generates interest
Build positive working relationships with newsroom staff and management, work collaboratively on enterprise content, and create opportunities to market web content on broadcast
Prioritize packaging content that grows page views per visitor and time on site, using headline testing, metric tools and observed patterns to guide decision making
Curate and aggregate a steady stream of interesting content that is packaged and promoted in a way that generates engagement and repeat site visitation
Understand different ways to tell a story, particularly producing short videos and choosing great photos
Evaluate website traffic trends to make decisions on both daily content needs and longer-term content curation that will grow local audience
Meets big KPIs, ensures the team is meeting their role-specific KPIs
Ensures local team meets daily deadlines
Creating a positive work environment
Promote and distribute news content on social media
Skill/Experience Requirements
2-4 years of experience in digital content and journalism, 1-2 years of management experience
Capable of researching, interviewing, and writing original news articles
Clever headline writer that gets readers to click
Comfortable adapting to changes in an evolving industry and thrives under pressure
Self-motivated, competitive spirit and assertive personality with the ability to balance multiple competing projects and priorities
Experience building online databases (investigative, elections, weather, etc.)
Organized, technical problem solver and quick decision maker
Knowledge of SEO best practices and AP Style
Enjoy working in teams and have excellent interpersonal skills
Ease with/ability to learn new technology independently and quickly
Ability to take direction and quickly implement new ideas
Regularly meets measurements of success
Strong understanding of web analytics; Google Analytics, Chartbeat experience a plus
Proficiency in MS Office is a must; HTML, CSS, OBS systems, and Photoshop experience are a plus
