*US Citizenship Required *Onsite at a NEFSC and aboard research vessels in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Active-Acoustic Data Analyst will support the NEFSC Ecosystem Surveys Branch by managing, organizing, and analyzing active-acoustic and related oceanographic datasets using advanced techniques including artificial intelligence and machine learning. The analyst will prepare data reports, manuscripts, and presentations, and may present findings at scientific conferences and interagency meetings. Responsibilities may also include sea-going cruise participation to perform acoustic sampling and shipboard data management as part of a scientific watch team.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with managing, organizing, and analyzing active-acoustic data collected by the NEFSC and/or academic, governmental, and industry partners Assist with collating and managing metadata from data collected by the NEFSC and or academic, governmental, and industry partners. Communicate analyses and results at scientific conferences and meetings with academic, governmental, and industry partners through presentations, posters, or other digital media. While not required, opportunities to perform tasks on sea-going vessels may be available. If feasible and warranted,

Participate on research cruises when acoustic data management is required at sea. Serve as a member of the scientific party standing watch for up to 12 hours per day when acoustic data management is required at sea. Assist with general shipboard sampling activities, organization, and clean-up.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in science or computer science or 3+ years equivalent work experience Proficiency in open-source programming (Python 3, R, Perl) Proficient in Oracle database systems Experience with post-processing acoustic data and Echoview software Familiarity with MS Office If sea-going tasks are feasible and warranted:

Valid driver's license with the ability to operate Federal motor vehicles PPD TB test clearance within the past 12 months OMAO medical clearance for sea duty on NOAA vessels Be able to work at sea for 5-17 consecutive days
