Posting Summary Job Title Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) Division Planning and Information Technology Department Department VP Planning & Information Technology Work Status Full Time Position Category Staff FLSA Exempt Pay Range Exempt Salary Range $200,000 - $210,000 / year Fund Source State Support Job Summary The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) is the university's senior-most cybersecurity leader, responsible for developing, executing, and overseeing the enterprise information security strategy. This role directs all facets of cybersecurity operations—including risk governance, regulatory compliance, incident response, and stakeholder engagement—to ensure the protection of institutional assets, resilience of digital infrastructure, and alignment with evolving regulatory mandates. As a key advisor to the CIO, the CISO plays a critical leadership role in securing the university's transformation and safeguarding its mission. Job Duties Duties & Responsibilities : Develop and operationalize cybersecurity strategies aligned with institutional goals, digital transformation initiatives, and risk appetite. Direct security operations, risk management, and enterprise platform governance (e.g., SIEM, CASB, DLP, MFA) to ensure real-time protection and operational resilience. Lead detection, response, and remediation of security incidents. Manage threat intelligence, forensics, and executive-level communication during crises. Conduct enterprise-wide security risk assessments. Maintain audit readiness across FERPA, HIPAA, NIST, GLBA, and other frameworks. Oversee security training programs (e.g., Living Security) and foster alignment between cybersecurity priorities and campus-wide stakeholders. Mentor cybersecurity personnel and cultivate a high-performance, high-trust culture within the Office of Information Security. Advise the CIO and executive leadership on emerging threats, security architecture evolution, and long-term investment in security capabilities. Oversee domain integrity, SSL certificate management, CAASM, and posture management for cloud and federated systems. Requested Minimum Qualifications Education The successful candidate must have a Bachelor's in Cybersecurity or related field from an accredited college or university. Experience 8 or more years of experience in cybersecurity, along with 3+ years in leadership roles is required. Other Preferences for Consideration Preferences Experience in Higher Education, public sector or hybrid cloud environments.
