Description
The Vice President, Procurement at AAR CORP. leads the global strategy, operations, and performance of procurement, supplier management, and logistics functions. This role ensures alignment with business goals, drives cost efficiencies, enhances supplier partnerships, and oversees a high-performing team to support AAR’s mission in the aerospace and defense industry.
What you will be responsible for:
Develop and execute sourcing and logistics strategies that drive operational efficiency, cost savings, and supply chain resiliency.
Lead global procurement efforts, including strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, and supplier performance management. Primary focus is on direct Consumables & Expendables, travel, IT, real estate, and plant supplies categories, among others.
Direct logistics and transportation activities to ensure timely, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of materials and products.
Oversee supplier relationship management, including risk mitigation, quality control, and long-term partnerships.
Partner with internal stakeholders in operations, programs, and finance to ensure alignment and support for customer requirements.
Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across sourcing and logistics functions.
Manage and mentor a team of procurement and logistics professionals, fostering a culture of performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Drive digital transformation and process optimization across procurement and logistics systems.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies.
Collaborate on inventory strategy, global warehousing, and material availability across the enterprise.
Qualifications
What you need to be successful in the role: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred. 10+ years of progressive experience in procurement, sourcing, logistics, or supply chain operations, including senior leadership roles. Demonstrated success in developing and executing sourcing strategies with measurable cost savings and performance improvements. Strong leadership and team development skills, with experience managing cross-functional and global teams. Expertise in contract negotiation, supplier relationship management, and strategic partnerships. Familiarity with aerospace and defense industry standards, compliance, and logistics requirements. Experience with ERP systems and procurement platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, IFS). Excellent communication, analytical, and decision-making skills. Ability to manage complexity and ambiguity in a fast-paced, global environment.
