Our client, a global leader in manufacturing, is seeking a
Plant Engineer
to join its team in DuPage County, IL. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role is responsible for leading plant maintenance operations with a focus on reliability, safety, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will drive performance through Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Maintenance Excellence, and the Sonoco Performance System (SPS). Key Responsibilities: Lead plant safety programs and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations. Implement and sustain a reliability-centered maintenance strategy to improve machine uptime, OEE, and reduce operational costs. Provide leadership to the maintenance team, ensuring high standards of equipment performance and plant condition. Identify and support technical training and development for maintenance staff. Manage capital projects, participate in budgeting, and control departmental spending. Apply root cause analysis to critical equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Collaborate with plant leadership to drive operational improvements and support continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Maintenance, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 3+ years leading a maintenance department in a manufacturing setting or 5+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing. Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards and ability to implement preventive measures. Proficient in root cause analysis tools (FMEA, 5 Whys, etc.) and developing countermeasures. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and predictive maintenance systems. Experience with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Background in TPM or reliability engineering . Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
