POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the day-to-day coordination of each craft during construction of the vessel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
Because Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, the essential duties and responsibilities may be different than described.
Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays. Routine review of drawings to assure compliance with contact specifications. Review purchase orders to assure specifications are complied with for each item. Prepare Variation Orders for changes to the contract and or vessel specifications. Prepare the weekly production meeting agenda for each craft as related to each project. Coordinate with regulatory bodies during construction of the vessel. Represent company when meeting with vessel representatives. Daily oversight of production and coordination of each phase of construction. Responsible for updates to management as needed or as requested. Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May directly and/or indirectly supervise employees assigned to the construction of the vessel. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be required.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
Basic knowledge of vessel structure, welding techniques, pipe fitting, electrical installation/termination, machine alignment, and paint desired. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Requires knowledge of ship terminology, safety, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
Skills:
Intermediate level Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook Express. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, general business periodicals, professional documents, Company policies/ procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior management, employees, government officials. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.
Behavioral Attributes:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, and smartphones. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
